The risk of brain injury caused by playing sport is now widely acknowledged, and was a feature discussion at the Sport Resolutions Virtual Annual Conference 2021 in association with Winston & Strawn LLP last month.
With over 300 attendees from 25 countries, the event brought together leading experts to address sports governance, the current state of anti-doping, as well as brain injury in sport.
We are delighted to donate the total event ticket income of £3,075 to the brain injury association Headway.
Richard Harry, Chief Executive of Sport Resolutions said: “We wanted our Annual Conference to include the topic of sport-related brain injury and to recognise the significance of its consequences. Together with our event sponsor Winston & Strawn LLP we are delighted to donate the ticket income from our event to Headway as a small contribution to help them with their work.”
Peter Crowther, London Office Managing Partner, Winston & Strawn LLP said: “We’re pleased to support Headway’s mission to provide information, support and services to brain injury survivors and their families and campaign to reduce the incidence of brain injury in sport.”
Peter McCabe, Chief Executive of Headway said: “At Headway we are proud of our work to increase awareness and understanding of the risks of sport-related concussion. We have made significant progress over the past few years but there’s so much more work to be done if we are to instil a cultural change that will see everyone involved in sport, at all levels, adopt an ‘if in doubt, sit it out!’ approach to head injuries. We are delighted that this conference addressed this issue while providing the charity with a generous donation to help us continue our work. We are extremely grateful to Sport Resolutions and Winston & Strawn LLP for their support.”
