FIFA’s International Transfer Snapshot shows English Clubs spent the most this window

FIFA has published the International Transfer Snapshot which shows that whilst spending was down English clubs spent the most in the summer transfer window.

The Snapshot looked at the window between June and August with English clubs spending more on transfers than France and Spain combined which were the next two highest spenders on the list. English clubs spent over £1 billion this transfer window with the £100 million fee for Jack Grealish contributing significantly.

English clubs also topped the table for incoming transfers which hit 380 this year which was down from 485 last year. German and French clubs made more in terms of income from transfer fees with English clubs in third ahead of Italian and Spanish clubs.

The Snapshot adds that over £3 billion was spent on transfers which is a decline of 7.5% from last year and over 60% down from the record spent in 2019.

On the women's side, there were 576 transfers in all, an 8.7% jump from 2020, while the number of deals involving a fee went up from 18 to 31, a jump of 72.2%
