IAAF v Yekaterina Medvedeva Ryzhova

A decision in the matter of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) v Ms Yekaterina Medvedeva Ryzhova has been issued by the Disciplinary Tribunal.

Ms Medvedeva Ryzhova, a Russian racewalker, was charged by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in March 2019 under the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) for Use of a Prohibited Substance or a Prohibited Method pursuant to Article 2.2 ADR on the basis of abnormal variations in her haematological profile.

On 2 August 2019, a hearing was held before the Panel, comprised of Mr Conny Jörneklint (Chair), Mr Amit Sibal SA and Mr David Grace QC.  The Panel found that the Athlete had committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) pursuant to Article 2.2 ADR. As this was the Athlete’s second ADRV an eight (8) year period of Ineligibility has been imposed upon the Athlete commencing on the date of the Award.

The secretariat to the Disciplinary Tribunal is managed by Sport Resolutions.
