Members sought for the Lawn Tennis Association’s Independent Judicial Panel

The Chair of the Judicial Panel is seeking additional members for the Judicial Panel.

The Judicial Panel has three divisions: the Disciplinary Division (dealing primarily with misconduct cases), the Safeguarding Division (dealing primarily with cases involving the safeguarding/protection of children and adults at risk) and the Registration Appeals Division (dealing primarily with appeals in respect of coach accreditation and official licensing).

Whilst members are sought for each division, he is particularly interested in recruiting legal and non-legal members for the Safeguarding Division.

As a member of the Judicial Panel, you would be appointed to sit on individual tribunals, each led by a legally-qualified chair, to determine cases involving allegations of prohibited conduct including safeguarding breaches, misconduct or appeals against decisions that registration criteria/conditions for coaches or officials have not been or are not met. Judicial Panel members do not require a legal background and applications would be welcomed in particular from those with a knowledge of sport or/or safeguarding, who can apply that experience to reach fair and proportionate decisions.

Additionally, those who are legally qualified with no less than 10 years’ post-qualification experience may be appointed (by the Chair of the Judicial Panel) to chair individual tribunal hearings on a case-by-case basis.

The initial term of appointment will be three years, with the possibility of renewal.

These are voluntary positions, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Applications should be submitted by Sunday 5th February 2023 and should be made as directed in the full role profile (available via the link here).
